At the NZ armed forces hanger?

First thing to eliminate as a possibility that some of your military brass either flying to the US on a US Charter plane or returning that way. Or the other way around with a bunch of US military brass visiting yours.

probably a long shot (and would i.d you)
but if you have the date and time of the arrival plus all other observed details is it possible to make an official information act request?

This is also the time of year that the Antarctic program at McMurdo Sound is serviced from the Christchurch NZRAF base, sometimes NZRAF does flights to transfer personnel or goods to the antarctic (Scott Base) on behalf of US scientific agencies. Mostly scientists; some NZ researchers join them - see the Antarctic research center section on VUW website - and occasionally, writers, composers and other artists spend some of the summer on the ice.

There are no commercial flights to the ice, so this is all done by USAF transfer flights and NZRAF flights.
